Nature & Discoveries

Provincial Park of Chevetogne

The park offers a selection of activities for the whole family: fantastical playing grounds, beautiful ornamental gardens, sports and water sports, culture, rest and picnic areas, a tourist train, a miniature farm, a quiet caravan park complete with babbling brook, accommodation for families and groups, restaurants,….as well as a wide variety of events!
Every Sunday from May to October, from 10.00 to 13.00, you can enjoy our “Relaxing Mornings, Woodland Mornings” guided walks accompanied by jazz music.

The park also boasts a brand new pool area (July & August). From 2014, a path adapted for persons with reduced mobility will take you for a tour along the ponds.

The park offers you the possibility to discover 10 thematic gardens and other recreational areas, among which:

  • The Woodland Garden, presenting a number of interesting varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and hamamelis. The playful skirmish between Light and Shadow confers a touch of Impressionism to this garden.
  • The Garden of medicinal plants: a garden composed of mixed atmospheres and composed of an orchard, a vegetable garden, water features such as a minute waterfall and brooks and, a collection of more than 300 aromatic and medicinal plants. This garden, equipped with an observation bridge on the water gives children the opportunity of observing frogs, tadpoles and fish...
  • The Bower : Designed in a typical 19th century style, this gaily coloured path is packed with the intoxicating smells of azalea, hydrangea, viburnum and mock oranges.

The NEM :

  • The Nature Extraordinary Museum, known as the « NEM », is an educational centre about nature and every aspect of nature that is beautiful, picturesque and sublime.
The centre boasts a cabinet of frogs, a siren from the Southern seas, books of magic spells and a witches’ medicine cabinet, a stuffed Minotaur, a Japanese garden and hundreds of books…
In the heart of the Esplanade Garden in Chevetogne, hidden away in a secret underground passage, now lies the cavern of “knowledge”. The goal of this out of the ordinary museum is to restore imagination, the power of dreams and ethics to their proper place. In a way, its goal is simply to restore meaning.

Feeling a bit peckish? Our restaurants L'Aquarium, the Brasserie Chevetogne, the Taverne du Bout du Monde and Les Rhodos can cater for your every need!
