Which permit should you buy?

  • To fish from the riverbank : fishing license A (14,50€) ; it allows fishing with one or two hand lines, as well as the use of a landing net (but only to land the fish caught with a fishing rod).
  • To fish elsewhere than from the riverbank: fishing license B (39,00€) ; this permit authorizes fishing with a maximum of two hand lines (from a boat, jetty..), as well as the use of fishing equipment other than hand-held rods.

You will find detailed information in the leaflet that accompanies your permit or on www.maisondelapeche.be.

In short, in order to fish in the Lesse Valley area (and as a rule, to fish in non-navigable and non-floatable water courses) it is mandatory for you to possess the following:

  • Fishing license (A or B)
  • A membership card from the relevant local anglers’ association (to be renewed annually)
  • In the absence of an anglers’ association: you need to obtain prior authorization from the riperian owner.

Where can I obtain a list of the angling assocations?

A full list of angling associations and their fishing waters is available on: www.parcoursdepeche.be.

The list is also available on request from our Tourist Information Offices

When does the fishing season start?

  • 3rd Saturday in March : opening of the trout fishing season.
  • 1st Saturday in June : general opening of the fishing season.

Which fish species can you hope to  catch here?
